Simple and Sweet

I am honored to say that I have been asked to be the maid of honor in our friend's wedding. So being that I am the maid..or excuse me..matron of honor, I hosted a bridal shower for Nicole. I had lots of stuff to get done so I decided that I was going to make this cake very simple. It was the yummy yellow cake again in a 2 layer, 9 inch cake. I got a little help from my favorite baking store and got this lovely edible floral piece and just made sure the cake was delicious. I also made some white chocolate lollipops that I forgot to take picture of. They were really cute and I heard the groom to be really enjoyed them!

Tyler is 4!

Oh how my kids LOVE SpongeBob! For my little boy's 4th birthday, he decided he wanted a SpongeBob cake. So that's what Mommy made! I actually drew this by looking at a picture and I must say I'm impressed because I am the most non artistic person ever! I mean it is only a sponge but..hey, that's one good sponge!

So not only was this a cute cake but it was really yummy. I tried a new recipe for a yellow cake and it was so good. The icing came out really fluffy too. I will definitely be making this recipe again.

An old one

I finally found this picture that I was looking for. I had made this for Layla for her 1st birthday. It's suppose to look like a ducky floating in a tub of bubbles. The cutest thing is that Layla is now 2 and still carries this little duck, named quack quack, around with her all the time. I think this may have been one of the first few cake I decorated.

Oh Baby!

My very pregnant friend Courtney is almost due with a little baby girl. She was pretty simple with her request for a cake. She didn't care what it looked like, it just had to be yummy! Well that's the was the easy part so I wanted to make her cake really special for her. Her nursery colors are brown and pink so I thought that would be perfect for the cake! I cant wait to give this cake to her!
Zoe-Lynn, we cant wait to meet you!!

You are my Sunshine!

If you received this for your birthday wouldn't it brighten up your day? This cake came out better than I thought it was going to. When I got the order for this cake I just couldn't imagine it working out for me the way it did. This was one of my better behaved cakes..haha! No last minute crazy things to fix. Just a simple chocolate cake with buttercream icing. Since this was one of two cakes I made today, I was very happy with the outcome!

Cinderella

This may possibly be my favorite kind of cake to make. The weird thing is that there is always something that just doesn't work perfectly for me with this kind of cake, but I think I have it down to a science now! The great thing is that I know any little girl who loves fairy tales will love this.

This one was for a little girl named Chloe who was turning 3. She apparently loves everything blue...sooo Cinderella fits perfectly! The dress part of the cake was white cake and the platform was a 3 layer chocolate cake. My daughter was pretty jealous that we had to give this one up.

Princess for a princess!

I was browsing through my pictures and I found this lovely cake! I can't believe I don't have this on her yet. I made this for a little sweetie named Emma. She absolutely LOVED her birthday princess cake. The look on her face was priceless and it made me so happy to have made this for her!

Of course a princess would only have pink cake! So this was a yummy strawberry cake.

I LOVE that bow!!

My first wedding cake

My friend Amanda from work got married over the weekend and she asked ME to make her wedding cake! I was pretty excited to take on the task but a little worried as well. I mean this is her wedding and I wanted it to be just perfect for her. She was very simple in her request. All she wanted was a 3 tiered white cake with buttercream icing, all white with a pink border and little dots. This was also my biggest cake to date. Making buttercream perfectly smooth is not the easiest thing so I was pretty particular about doing my best to make sure it was a smooth as possible..in other words..I spent FOREVER smoothing it out. It's not perfect but in the end I was very happy with the result and so was the bride to be! She told me something that was so cute. She said she liked it because it was a little rough around the edges just like the bride and groom to be!

Snack-e-snack time with Foofa!

Ok, for all of you out there who don't know who or what this little pink thing is, meet Foofa! I made this cake for a sweet little girl named Layla who is obsessed with Oofa (as she calls her). Foofa is one of the characters on a show called Yo! Gabba Gabba. Our kids go crazy over this show and I can understand why. It is just goofy! The first time I saw this show, I thought who ever made it had to be on some kind of hallucinogen! Now after watching it many times now, I really like it. HA! So anyway enough about the show..but all of you should try to watch it atleast once!! hehe.

This is a devil's food cake with buttercream and Foofa is made from fondant. I think Layla really like it!

First time with Fondant!

This lovely cake was for my sweet little girl, Madison's, 5th birthday. She wanted a princess cake and I was trying to think of what i could do to make it really special for her. I finally decided I was ready to just go for it and try fondant. Let me tell you..I am so glad I did! It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.
The whole thing was edible except for the crown. I found some really neat stuff at a local store that has all kind of baking supplies. It's called Stefanie's Sweet's and I just love it there! I found those little edible pearls and some luster dust to make some stuff sparkle. I was super excited with the result after much trouble from my stubborn bow..which ended up lovely..don't ya think? The bottom tier of this cake is a 9 inch, 3 layer devil's food cake iced with buttercream. The top tier is a 2 layer, 6 inch white cake and that was also iced with a nice fluffy buttercream..yumm!
Happy 5th Birthday Madonna Key..hehe! (she decided that is what she wants to be called now)

Snickerdoodles!

Just thought I would give you all something to drool over=) I made these to add to some goody bags that I made for my cousin's baby shower. For these bags I made chocolate chip, sugar, chocolate white chip, peanut butter blossoms, Russian tea cakes and of course these yummy snickerdoodles. I ended up with over 600 cookies to stuff 60 bags with! They ended up turning out really cute. I wish I had taken a picture of them.

Fresh from the oven

So welcome to my blog! I'm so excited to be able to share all my goodies with everyone. I am always baking something so this gives me an opportunity to let everyone see what I've been up to. I'm putting some older pictures on here just so you can see what's been keeping me busy this past year. I have lots of friends with young children so they give me more reasons to make cute kids cakes!Jed's first birthday cake- it was banana cake!yumm!
This was a white cake with buttercream icing with a strawberry filling

This cake for my friend Nicole is the same flavor as the one above this one.
