Cinderella

This may possibly be my favorite kind of cake to make. The weird thing is that there is always something that just doesn't work perfectly for me with this kind of cake, but I think I have it down to a science now! The great thing is that I know any little girl who loves fairy tales will love this.

This one was for a little girl named Chloe who was turning 3. She apparently loves everything blue...sooo Cinderella fits perfectly! The dress part of the cake was white cake and the platform was a 3 layer chocolate cake. My daughter was pretty jealous that we had to give this one up.

Princess for a princess!

I was browsing through my pictures and I found this lovely cake! I can't believe I don't have this on her yet. I made this for a little sweetie named Emma. She absolutely LOVED her birthday princess cake. The look on her face was priceless and it made me so happy to have made this for her!

Of course a princess would only have pink cake! So this was a yummy strawberry cake.

I LOVE that bow!!

My first wedding cake

My friend Amanda from work got married over the weekend and she asked ME to make her wedding cake! I was pretty excited to take on the task but a little worried as well. I mean this is her wedding and I wanted it to be just perfect for her. She was very simple in her request. All she wanted was a 3 tiered white cake with buttercream icing, all white with a pink border and little dots. This was also my biggest cake to date. Making buttercream perfectly smooth is not the easiest thing so I was pretty particular about doing my best to make sure it was a smooth as possible..in other words..I spent FOREVER smoothing it out. It's not perfect but in the end I was very happy with the result and so was the bride to be! She told me something that was so cute. She said she liked it because it was a little rough around the edges just like the bride and groom to be!

Snack-e-snack time with Foofa!

Ok, for all of you out there who don't know who or what this little pink thing is, meet Foofa! I made this cake for a sweet little girl named Layla who is obsessed with Oofa (as she calls her). Foofa is one of the characters on a show called Yo! Gabba Gabba. Our kids go crazy over this show and I can understand why. It is just goofy! The first time I saw this show, I thought who ever made it had to be on some kind of hallucinogen! Now after watching it many times now, I really like it. HA! So anyway enough about the show..but all of you should try to watch it atleast once!! hehe.

This is a devil's food cake with buttercream and Foofa is made from fondant. I think Layla really like it!

First time with Fondant!

This lovely cake was for my sweet little girl, Madison's, 5th birthday. She wanted a princess cake and I was trying to think of what i could do to make it really special for her. I finally decided I was ready to just go for it and try fondant. Let me tell you..I am so glad I did! It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.
The whole thing was edible except for the crown. I found some really neat stuff at a local store that has all kind of baking supplies. It's called Stefanie's Sweet's and I just love it there! I found those little edible pearls and some luster dust to make some stuff sparkle. I was super excited with the result after much trouble from my stubborn bow..which ended up lovely..don't ya think? The bottom tier of this cake is a 9 inch, 3 layer devil's food cake iced with buttercream. The top tier is a 2 layer, 6 inch white cake and that was also iced with a nice fluffy buttercream..yumm!
Happy 5th Birthday Madonna Key..hehe! (she decided that is what she wants to be called now)

Snickerdoodles!

Just thought I would give you all something to drool over=) I made these to add to some goody bags that I made for my cousin's baby shower. For these bags I made chocolate chip, sugar, chocolate white chip, peanut butter blossoms, Russian tea cakes and of course these yummy snickerdoodles. I ended up with over 600 cookies to stuff 60 bags with! They ended up turning out really cute. I wish I had taken a picture of them.
